Tribulus (Tribulus terrestris) is a plant native to parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. It’s commonly referred to as “puncture vine” or “goat’s head” due to its spiky fruit. The plant’s fruit, leaves, and roots are used for their therapeutic effects. Tribulus has a long history of use in traditional medicine, including Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Tribulus was traditionally used as an aphrodisiac and libidoenhancer in both men and women. It was also used to support fertility, cardiovascular health, immune health, and the urinary and gastrointestinal tracts. Tribulus seeds contain various bioactive compounds, including steroidal saponins (such as protodioscin and diosgenin), flavonoids, alkaloids, and phenolic compounds, which may contribute to their health benefits.
