Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a woody vine native to the Amazon rainforest and other parts of Central and South America. It’s a traditional medicinal plant that’s been used by indigenous peoples in these regions for centuries. Cat’s Claw gets its name from the curved thorns on the vine, which resemble a cat’s claw.
Some traditional uses of Cat's Claw include supporting the immune system, reducing inflammation, relieving digestive discomfort, and supporting wound healing. Indigenous tribes have used Cat's Claw topically to treat skin conditions like cuts, bruises, and infections.
The main constituents of Cat’s Claw include oxindole alkaloids, indole alkaloidal glucosides, quinovic acid glycosides, tannins, polyphenols, catechins, and beta-sitosterol.
